Diamond Slowness
Diamond, the Libraries’ ILS, is currently experiencing connectivity problems. Innovative Interfaces Inc. has been notified and they are diligently working towards a solution. As of now they have noticed that the Z39.50 portion is “core dumping”, basically the program is crashing.
More when we find out.

Diamond/Millennium Authorization & Login Requests
In the interest of streamlining the process for additions or changes to the authorizations and logins for users of Diamond/Millennium, the following procedural changes have been implented:
- Requests for change (adding or removing authorizations) must come from the Department Head (Paley system) or equivalent (in HSC and Law);
- Requests should include the specific authorization name and number as found in the Millennium Manual:
- on page 100729, "Authorized Functions Used by Millennium"
- on page 101790, "List of Functions That Require User Authorization"
- Authorization/Login requests are uniformly assigned priority "2 - Urgent."
As usual, feel free to approach anyone in LS&T in this regard.

Blog server upgrade
The blog server will begin an upgrade Monday March 13, 2006. This upgrade is planned to begin on Monday morning until completion. In the mean time we are planning to have all BLOG server traffic redirected to another server that can be accessed at http://barnowl.lib.temple.edu. It is my intent to make the upgrade as transparent as possible.

Diamond Control Down
Diamond, the Libraries' ILS, will not be able to process transactions this morning. Control is temporarily down as systems staff performs a full backup of the database. The backup should take about an hour and fifteen minutes to complete. Once the backup is done, Diamond will be available for normal activity. Questions please contact any member of LS&T.
