Chromium for MacOS

Mac users who want to try the Chrome browser but don't want to have to load Windows to do so can try Google's Chromium augmented by the TechCrunch Chromium Updater. See the article for full information. Usual caveats for pre-release software apply, as well as these:
  • Because it's not an official release, LS&T doesn't support it.
  • Neither does Computer Services.
  • In fact, there's always a (very, very small) chance that CS Info Security will block it.
  • We won't install pre-release software for you either. If you're not comfortable doing it, wait until release.
  • If it causes problems, our first course of action will be to get rid of it.
All of the above applies to any pre-release software, not just Google Chromium. That said, the Mac-using contingent in the Libraries trends pretty much toward the high end of the tech-savvy scale. If you can digest the article linked above, you can probably handle Chromium. Just don't make it your primary browser until there's a Chrome release.
