Our access to Blackwell Reference Online now includes over 350 titles covering all disciplines, including Anthropology, Art, Business & Management, Classics, Communication  & Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Economics, Gender Studies, Geography, History, Law, Linguistics, Literature, Medicine, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Race & Ethnicity Studies, Religion, and Sociology.  Prior to this, our access only included about 90 titles in the areas of Philosophy and Religion.

When complete, The Sixties will include over 150,000 pages (plus associated audio & video) of diaries, letters, autobiographies and other memoirs, written and oral histories, manifestos, government documents, memorabilia, and scholarly commentary. Spanning 1960 to 1974, The Sixties is centered on key themes that provide insight into the issues that shaped America and that still resonate in today’s debates: Arts, Music, and Leisure; Civil Rights; Counter-Culture; Environmental Movement; Gay and Lesbian Rights; Law and Government; Mass Media; New Left and Emerging Neo-Conservative Movement; Science and Technology; Student Activism; Vietnam War; and Women’s Movement.

Streaming video of counseling sessions, demonstrations, consultations, lectures, presentations, and interviews are included in Counseling & Therapy in Video, providing a rich new resource for studies in social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling.  Further information is available within the database.

An additional 50,000 titles, comprising 7 million pages, have been added to Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO).  The new content is primarly material scanned since the initial release of ECCO in 2003.  Further information about both ECCO I and ECCO II is available from the publisher site.

The Libraries’ have added the 18th Century Parliamentary Papers collection, which is cross-searchable with our existing 19th Century Collection.  As well as sessional papers from both the House of Commons and House of Lords, the Eighteenth Century collection also includes supplementary material: the Journals of the House of Commons and House of Lords; Private and Local Bills and Acts; debates (from the Parliamentary Register); and Histories and Proceedings of the House of Commons and House of Lords.  More details about the new collection are available.

The Historical New York Times now includes indexing terms from the venerable New York Times Index.  Researchers can now search the New York Times more precisely by making use of 5 new search fields: subject, location, person, creative works, and company/organization.  The indexing coverage extends through 1993.

The electronic backfiles of the Philadelphia Tribune (1912-2001) and the Baltimore Afro-American (1893-1988) have been added to our collection of Black Historical Newspapers.

Full-text of the following 50 titles were recently added to Periodicals Archive Online.  Of particular note is the full backfile of The Spectator [1828-2000], the oldest continuously published magazine in the English language.

• Contemporary World Music was updated with 448 albums—a total of 6,447 tracks, taking the total count to 1,530 albums and 20,682 tracks. Record labels added include ARC Music, Blue Flame Records, Intersound, Karuna, Triloka, Rounder Records, Sheridan Square Records, and Six Degrees Records. There’s a little of everything in this round of content uploads—from Afrobeat, electronic lounge music, rembetika, and belly dance, to reggae and dub. Some of the new albums added include: 80 Years: London Jewish Male Choir; Bobi Céspedes: Rezos; Cinematic: Classic Film Music Remixed;Cutting Razor–Rare Cuts From The Black Ark; Emad Sayyah: Ma Ajmal Beirut–Modern Bellydance from Lebanon; and Hugh Masekela: Hope.

• A total of 278 new scores and 16,164 pages were added to Classical Scores Library, taking the total to 12,644 scores and 229,586 pages. Brook Center for Music Research and Documentation.
