TU Libraries now has access to PressDisplay!

Visually stunning, PressDisplay provides online access to today's leading newspapers and magazines from around the world, presented in their traditional format and layout. 

With more than 650 print publications from 76 countries and in 38 languages, PressDisplay is an indispensable news source for anyone who wants not only multiple perspectives on the news, but also to see the original print layout/format, including color images, editorial content, classifieds, and advertisements.

RadioListening.JPGThe Science and Society Picture Library in South Kensington, London, represents images from the UK Science Museum; the National Museum of Photography, Film, and Television; the National Railway Museum.

The collections include 4000 personalities, the Daily Herald and Manchester Daily Express archives, the Kodak collection, the Photographic Advertising Archive, and the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, William Henry Fox Talbot and Tony Ray-Jones.

Alternative Press Index Archives

TU Libraries now has access to Alternative Press Index Archives (1969-1990) which indexes roughly 290 alternative, radical and left periodicals, newspapers and magazines reporting and analyzing the practices of cultural, economic, political and social change. 

The Archives can be searched simultaneously with Alternative Press Index (1991-present), providing increased coverage.

BBC Monitoring Library Trial

bbc-logo.gifTU Libraries is currently trialing the database, BBC Monitoring Library.

BBC Monitoring Library reports news from state owned, independent and clandestine media sources in over 150 countries, in more than 100 languages to provide a distinctive and internationally respected news service.  BBC Monitoring operates around the clock, reporting on political and economic events that have an impact upon internal affairs, international relations, human rights and business.  News is translated in to English without additional analysis or editorial comment to ensure the impartiality and authority expected from the BBC.

The trial ends May 30th.  Let us know if this database would be useful to you in your research/projects!

Lexis-Nexis Academic Updates

Lexis-Nexis Academic recently released a new design.  While the display looks different, the functionality remains the same.  More information about the new interface is available here.

Lexis-Nexis Academic also recently expanded its foreign press coverage, including six new publications: Bundesanzeiger Zentralhandelsregister, Der Tagesspiegel, La Lettre A, Evening Herald (Ireland), J/M, and Der Standard.  More information about these news publications is available here.
